3PM Friday Update – Dane County Flooding

Dane County has launched a website to help keep residents and municipalities up to date and keep all resources in one spot: https://dcflood.countyofdane.com/

It contains road closures, weather updates, resources for those affected by flooding. You can also easily go to the website by going to Dane County’s homepage.

 

Dane County is diligently seeking disaster relief for it’s citizens. We will provide information as it becomes available.

 

NEW
United Way 2-1-1 – DAMAGE REPORTING

As of early afternoon, the United Way’s 2-1-1 reported receiving nearly 966 individual reports of private property damage from Dane County.  Please be sure to report damage as soon as possible.

 

Other agencies are collecting damage assessments, but 2-1-1 reporting is essential.

Historic Lake Monona Levels

Lake Monona has reached historic high levels (since the beginning of water level monitoring in Dane County) in the last several hours reaching 847.97 feet of water above sea level.  The last historic high was June 2008 at 847.86 feet of water above sea level.

 

Additional Sandbagging Resources

The County secured an additional sandbagging machine which will arrive at approximately 5:00 p.m. and will deployed to areas in need.

 

Reopened Roads

 

CTH Y (Mazomanie Village Limits) – NOW OPEN

 

CTH M in the City of Middleton –between Old Creek Rd to Branch St. – to reopen approximately 6pm

 

Beltline Ramps NOW OPEN at Hwy 14 to Pleasant View

 

 

Previous Important Information:

 

MARC – Multi-Agency Resource Center

There will be a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) open to help residents affected by the flooding. To extend and streamline assistance for dozens of people impacted by record-setting rainfall and flooding in western Dane County, numerous service agencies will gather at two Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARCs).  Residents impacted by the floods/rain damage are encouraged to visit one of these two sites on the following days/times for access to recovery resources:


Friday August 24th  1pm – 7pm

Mazomanie Elementary School – 314 Anne St.

 

Saturday August 25th 10am – 4pm

Blackhawk Church – 9620 Brader Way Middleton

 

Red Cross Shelters

Two shelters established by the Red Cross yesterday will remain open tonight at the same locations – Mazomanie Elementary School and Madison West High School.

A Detour has been set up in Sauk County detouring traffic from Hwy 14 to Hwy 60 to Hwy 12.

Other Info:

Additional flooding is anticipated in the coming days along areas of Lakes Monona and Waubesa and eventually Kegonsa.  Lake levels downstream of this week’s rain have continued to rise. Sandbagging efforts are now underway in the City of Monona.  A number of properties may experience flooding over the next 24-72 hours. Unused sandbags from Mazomanie and Belleville have been moved to areas now at risk of flooding.  Slow, no wake orders remain in effect until further notice for Lakes Mendota, Monona, Kegonsa and Waubesa.
