Today Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, surrounded by local officials, cut the ribbon for recently re-constructed Highway C. The $3,865,000 project reconstructed the new four lane road with on-road bike facilities. The project was completed in partnership with the Town of Burke, Village of Windsor, City of Sun Prairie and Dane County.

“This road work will improve safety for cars and for bicycles,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi. “My 2017 budget invests an unprecedented $17 million to reconstruct our aging county highways and improve public safety.”

CTH C from STH 19 to Stonehaven Road was reconstructed to a four  lane facility with on-road bike facilities. CTH C from Stonehaven Road to Egre Road was  resurfaced and bike lanes were added (remains two lane highway).  Intersection improvements were made at the intersection of Egre Road and CTH C by adding turn lanes and bike facilities. An off road bike/pedestrian path was added along the east side of the highway, in cooperation with QBE, from STH 19 to St Albert the Great.  A pedestrian crossing was added at STH 19 and CTH C connecting the north side  residences  to the services located south of STH 19.

Storm water is being treated in an innovative retention ponds system. The project was designed and built by Dane County Public Works, Highway and Transportation Department with the assistance of Dane County Lakes and Water  Resources Department.

Cost share for the  construction project is as follows (county paid for all engineering, construction and design): Dane County $2,000,000, State County Highway Improvement program $481,000, City of Sun Prairie $702,000, Town of Burke  $336,000, Village of Windsor $346,000.
