(Madison, WI) The annual Take a Stake in Our Waters shoreline trash and aquatic debris collection provided to shoreline residents by Dane County Lakes Management barges begins on:

Lakes Mendota & Kegonsa · Monday, July 18, 2016

Lakes Monona & Waubesa · Monday, July 25, 2016

Barge crews WILL pick up aquatic vegetation (lake weeds, algae), and debris washed up on shore (trash, dead fish, etc.).  Barge crews WILL NOT pick up yard waste or brush (grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs), or household waste (garbage, pet waste, etc.).

Barges will make ONE pass around the lake. Shoreline residents should have debris on their pier by 6 am Monday so they don’t miss the collection. It may be a few days until barge crews get to every pier. If the water adjacent to a resident’s pier is too shallow to allow access from the water, Dane County crews may not be able to pick up debris from that pier.

For City of Madison residents, the Take a Stake collection schedule coincides with the regular City of Madison pier pickup schedule (https://wred-lwrd.countyofdane.com/Aquatic-Plant-Management/Aquatic-Plant-Harvester-Locations).

Shoreline residents with questions about this shoreline cleanup should call John Reimer at (608) 224-3612.
