Parisi looks for feedback on the 2015 county budget on Sept. 16 in Cross Plains

MADISON:   Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced today he will host a listening session on September 16 to allow residents to provide their input for his 2015 budget proposal:

Dane County’s budget is more than $500 million annually – and the cost simply to continue current services is $3.5 million more than last year. County departments submitted budgets based on instructions from County Executive Parisi in June. He told departments that any new initiatives should be funded only through outside revenue or modifying existing programs or positions.

“The increasing cost to continue current county services, combined with continued state constraints, will require continued collaboration and innovation to reduce a reliance on county taxpayers while maintaining services residents expect and deserve,” Parisi said.

“The partnerships my administration has achieved are the basis for strengthening county services and pursuing new goals and innovations, while being extremely mindful of the bottom line and taxpayers. We’re doing more than we ever could alone to strengthen our workforce development and agriculture economies, address racial inequalities, help families in need and clean up our lakes.”

In coming weeks, the County Executive will review these proposals and feedback from the public, to complete his 2015 budget proposal for introduction by October 1st.
