Sheriff Mahoney Welcomes Eleven New Deputies

Sheriff David Mahoney is pleased to welcome eleven new deputies to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.  The group will be sworn-in at a 9:00 am ceremony on Monday, May 12that the Public Safety Building in Madison.

 

The new hires are:

  • Sarah Bortz, age 22 of Madison
  • Brooke Gay, age 32 of New Lenox, IL
  • Kelsey Gilmore, age 25 of Brookfield
  • Jennifer Grace, age 42 of Waunakee
  • Marlon Hannah, age 27 of Milwaukee
  • Michael Haure, age 25 of Sun Prairie
  • Jeremy Iwanski, age 29 of Madison
  • Joshua Korb, age 25 of Middleton
  • Rebecca Nania, age 26 of Madison
  • Nichole Schomer, age 28 of McFarland
  • Mellisa Wiedenfeld, age 34 of Cambridge

 

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies start with a 25-week training program to prepare them for their law enforcement careers.  Their first assignment will be in the Dane County Jail, where they will serve a two-year probationary period. 

 

The positions became available due to retirements and vacancies that occurred in the past year. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continually recruits for deputy and civilian positions to fill vacancies as they occur.  Applications can be found online at www.danesheriff.com.
