County Executive Statement on Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s Emergency Attempt to Block Marriage Equality

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi issued the following statement regarding Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s emergency attempt at blocking a ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Crabb that overturned Wisconsin’s ban on gay marriage last week.

 

“I’d much rather have our state’s attorney general fighting crime than fighting families.

 

“His appeal of this case is a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars and I urge him to reconsider.

 

“Our state’s resources would be much better spent reducing the very real problems of opiate addition, child abuse, or gang violence – just to name a few.”
