Dane County Parks will again be hosting the 6th Annual Harvest Moon Festival in support of the Capital Springs Recreation Area on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Lussier Family Heritage Center (Lake Farm County Park), 3101 Lake Farm Rd, just off South Towne Drive.  The Harvest Moon Festival is a cooperative effort of the Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area, the Wisconsin DNR and Dane County Parks.  All are welcome to attend this fun family friendly event! Admission $3/person (under 2 free). The event will be held rain or shine.

Join us outside for the highlight of the evening, the Harvest Moon Festival's illuminated trail through the park!  From 6:00 to 9:00 pm, take a stroll under the Harvest Moon with educational stops along the trail, including interpretive presentations on native owls, small and large mammals, amphibians, insects, bats, tree seeds, modern harvest practices and several other informative seasonal exhibits.

Stargaze with UW's Universe in the Park, and finish the evening around a Howlin' Campfire behind the Lussier Family Heritage Center, complete with s'mores and blue grass music played by local musicians.

In addition, a silent auction is held in the Lussier Family Heritage Center with all proceeds going toward FOCSRA's support of the Capital Springs Recreation Area.   Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area is a non-profit organization designed to support the Lussier Family Heritage Center, Capital City State Trail, Capital Springs State Park, Lake Farm County Park, and the Jenni and Kyle Preserve; all of which are components of  Capital Springs Recreation Area.  Proceeds from this event go towards the recreation and educational programs at the Lussier Family Heritage Center, Capital City State Trail and Capital Springs Recreation Area.
