MADISON, WI -An honor flight for World War II veterans will depart from Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) on Saturday, April 2, 2011. This flight, which includes 100 Wisconsin-area veterans, will depart from MSN on an Air Wisconsin chartered flight bound for Washington, D.C. for a daylong VIP excursion.

“It’s a great honor to help the greatest generation spend a day of remembrance and reflection on all that they and many Americans did for their country during the second World War,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said.

The veterans will visit the World War II Memorial along with other memorials in the Washington, D.C. area. Badger Honor Flight, a Wisconsin organization established to honor World War II veterans, coordinated this flight.

“We commend all those who have served our great country through our military.   We are honored to play a part in the Badger Honor Flight for our very important Wisconsin-area World War II veterans,” said Bradley S. Livingston, AAE, Director of the Dane County Regional Airport.

Because of financial and physical challenges, this trip presents the only opportunity for many of these men and women to visit the national memorial dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
