Madison, WI:  Monday February 15, 2010 –

At 5:34 p.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the intersection of Schumacher Road and Cuba Valley Road in the Town of Vienna for a two-vehicle injury crash.  Waunakee Fire and EMS along with Middleton EMS also responded to the scene.

Andrew R. Cremers, 18, of Waunakee was traveling westbound on Cuba Valley Road in a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  Cremers’ vehicle entered the intersection and into the path of Amy M. Gordon, 31, also of Waunakee, who was traveling southbound on Schumacher Road in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Cremers and his passenger were pinned inside their vehicle.  The Waunakee Fire Department was able to extricate both Cremers and his passenger.  Both were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  Cremers’ passenger was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Gordon and her three passengers were not injured.  Airbags did deploy in both vehicles.  Both drivers and their passengers were wearing their seatbelts.  The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The intersection of Schumacher Road and Cuba Valley Road was closed for approximately five hours while Dane County Sheriff’s Office Reconstructionists assisted with investigating the crash.

 This crash remains under investigation.
