Falk Statement: Passing of Former County Executive George Reinke

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk issued the following statement regarding this week’s passing of former Dane County Executive George Reinke. Mr. Reinke was Dane County’s first County Executive. He was elected to consecutive four-year terms by the voters in 1973 and again in 1977.
“George was not only Dane County’s first County Executive but he devoted more than four decades of his life to serving citizens through his work with the county’s highway department, County Bookkeeper and Chief Accountant, and County Administrator.
I spoke with George just a couple of weeks ago to congratulate he and his wife Mary on their 70th wedding anniversary.
George was modest, warm, and caring and a true public servant and leader who had a great hand in shaping the Dane County we know and love today.”
