Dane County Executive Joe Parisi encouraged residents to join in Dane County’s 175th birthday bash this week by participating in the second of four “Days in Dane” beginning on Friday, May 13th at noon.  During a Day in Dane, people are encouraged to take photographs of sights or locations that they feel best showcase Dane County and what a wonderful home it is.

“Day in Dane is a great way for people to be involved in the county’s 175th anniversary,” said Parisi.  “The photos for the first Day in Dane were great and really showed how beautiful our home can be – even in winter.  Now that Spring has arrived, I can’t wait to see what people send in.”

A full rundown of how  to participate in this Friday’s Day in Dane, including directions on how to submit pictures for the community photo album, is attached.  Photo submissions will be considered for use on the annual art poster produced by the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission.

County Executive Parisi added that a great way to participate in Day in Dane, or simply enjoy the warmer weather, is by completing a “Dane County Passport” to hidden gems throughout the county.  Three passports exist that can introduce, or reacquaint, area families with 12 different natural spaces in Dane County.  The passports highlight the Dane County Yahara Chain of Lakes, Early Settlers of Dane County, and the Glacial History of Dane County.  Each passport comes with fun trivia – passport holders can submit their answers online and enter to win $25 toward passes to enjoy Dane County parks, trails and waterways.

The three separate passports are available at the Dane County 175th Anniversary website located at:  http://danecounty175.org/passport.aspx
