Dane County Secures Stimulus Funding to Improve Busy County Highway

Road crews will begin work to improve County Highway K, north of Middleton, on Monday, June 14th

The resurfacing project between County Highway M and Q is being paid for through a combination of federal stimulus funding secured by Dane County along with county property tax dollars.  The total cost of the project is $800,000 with $600,000 of that being federal stimulus dollars.

“The goal of the federal stimulus legislation was to put people to work improving services important to their families and communities, and this project does just that,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said.

Falk noted to date Dane County has secured about $25 million in stimulus funding for improvements to the Dane County Regional Airport and various roads and bridges.  Another busy thoroughfare, County Highway MS (University Avenue) between Segoe Road and Shorewood Boulevard is currently being reconstructed with federal stimulus funding.

County Highway K between Highways M and Q will be closed during the project with access maintained to local businesses.  A marked detour route will be in place for the duration of the project which is expected to be completed next month.
