Cultural Affairs Commission Announces Grant Opportunities

July 09, 2010

County Executive

The Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission presents grant funding opportunities for its Third Grant Cycle of the year.  Application deadline is October 1, 2010.  The Commission will award more than $100,000, a mix of both public and private funds, in grants to local nonprofit organizations, municipalities, schools, and individuals proposing projects and programs in the community focused upon arts, culture and history.

Project grants are awarded for activities such as concerts, exhibitions, performances and productions, festivals, artist residencies, publications, and historical presentations.  Capital grant awards are offered to small cultural organizations to help with equipment purchases, building construction and preservation improvements.  All grant-funded projects and programs must culminate in tangible activities presented to the Dane County community, be conducted in the county, and allow public access.

“These grants are an opportunity to showcase the work of the many creative, artistic minds in our county while celebrating everything that makes our communities great,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said.

The Commission’s grant program, distributing a total of over $350,000 this year, is collaboratively financed by Dane County, The Evjue Foundation--charitable arm of The Capital Times, Overture Foundation, Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation, American Girl’s Fund for Children, and Endres Mfg. Company Foundation.

Earlier this year, the Commission was excited to introduce Webgrants,  a web-based, online grants management system including new grant applications that are accessed, prepared, submitted, and reviewed electronically.  The system is highly customer friendly and offers cost savings, efficiencies, and evaluation tools not formerly available.
