Madison,WI – Frontier Airlines was officially welcomed to the Dane County Regional Airport Monday evening following its inaugural flight to Madison from Denver.

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Frontier ticket desk and said, “Frontier gives business and leisure travelers a low-cost option to get to Denver and points west. And it gives folks from the West another good way to come and enjoy all that Madison and Dane County have to offer.”

Monday’s inaugural flight to Madison arrived at 6:20 p.m. and made its return to Denver at 6:55. From Denver, passengers can connect to a number of cities, including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle-Tacoma, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, among others.

“What we’re seeing today is the culmination of a six year process that was made possible through a partnership between the Dane County Regional Airport, the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce,” said Airport Director Bradley Livingston.  “We are extremely proud to have Frontier among the airlines providing the best possible service to our customers.”

Also on hand for the welcome reception was Frontier’s Vice President of Customer Service, Cliff Van Leuven. “We are absolutely delighted to include Madison among the cities we serve. The Dane County Regional Airport is a beautiful facility in a vital, growing community.  Frontier is a perfect fit for Madison,” said Van Leuven.

Frontier planes are easily identified thanks to the trademark wildlife depicted on the tails of its aircraft, including a new badger in honor of its Wisconsin customers. Customers have given the airline high marks for its comfortable, two-by-two leather seating in its Embraer 190, 99 seat aircraft, which also features such amenities as Google internet service, which is being added this year.

Frontier Airlines is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. Republic also owns Midwest Airlines, and Midwest Connect, which serves Dane County Regional Airport.

United Express Airlines also provides daily nonstop air service from Madison to Denver. Dane County Regional Airport provides nonstop service to 12 destinations and major hub airports. Serving the airport are Delta Airlines, American Eagle, United Express, Midwest Connect, Continental Express and now Frontier Airlines.
