The Dane County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2010 County Budget on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM in Room 201 of the City County Building. The County Executive's proposed budget recommends $490.3 million in total expenditures, with a property tax levy of $128.7 million and a county tax rate of $2.55 per thousand dollars of assessed value. Interested citizens can attend the hearing to present their concerns to the Board. Those wishing to speak will each have five minutes to address the Board. “The County Board will have to make some difficult decisions as we try to balance the need for critical county services with the difficult financial situation all Dane County citizens face”, said County Board Chair Scott McDonell. “We welcome input from the public as we develop our budget priorities and consider the best way to fund services. We invite the public to share their priorities with us.” County Board standing committees have been meeting over the last two weeks to review the County Executive’s proposed budget. Committee deliberations will continue the weeks of October 19th and 26th. Input provided at the public hearing could result in budget amendments to be considered during this period. The Personnel and Finance Committee will consider standing committee recommendations and send a budget recommendation to the full County Board in early November. It is anticipated that the full County Board will begin its budget deliberations on Monday, November 16th at 7:00 PM in Room 201 - City County Building, and continue on Wednesday, November 18th, if needed. # # #
