The Dane County Clean Air Coalition announced today that Lisa MacKinnon has been selected as the organization’s new director.

As an appointed member of the Madison Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the former Dane County Regional Planning Commission, MacKinnon implemented policies to improve the County’s environmental health and quality of life through sound transportation, land use and water quality planning.  As a member of the Transportation, Utilities and Community Facilities Committee for the Dane County Comprehensive Plan, MacKinnon was directly involved in analyzing mobile and stationary sources of air emissions that are the focus of the Clean Air Coalition’s work.

“Lisa’s extensive experience in bringing people together in the name of doing what’s right for our air, land, and water make her the perfect fit for the Dane County Clean Air Coalition,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said.

“I’m impressed with Lisa’s skills and experience,” Mayor Dave Cieslewicz said. “She’ll be a strong advocate for making sure we maintain healthy air in Madison.”

As the former Policy Director for 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, a statewide non-profit organization, MacKinnon successfully advocated for sound land use policies on the state and local levels, sustainable community development and balanced transportation choices.

MacKinnon was co-founder and coordinator of the North American Eco-Municipality Network, which was established in 2005 to advocate for and support the development of eco-municipalities.

The Dane County Clean Air Coalition is a private/public partnership of businesses, schools, government agencies and citizens working together to voluntarily reduce air pollution, keep our air healthy and help ensure that Dane County continues to meet state and federal air quality standards.

MacKinnon is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and lives in Madison.
