Road Between Rockdale, Cambridge to Re-open This Week

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk announced today that work on County Highway B between the Villages of Rockdale and Cambridge will be re-opened on Wednesday, November 25th.

In the Village of Rockdale the road has been reconstructed to allow for storm sewer, additional parking, curb and gutter, bike lanes, and sidewalks.  This phase of the project cost an estimated $400,000 with funding coming from the county, Village of Rockdale, and state.  The final finishing work and asphalt surfacing will be done next spring.

“Making important upgrades like these to our infrastructure are key to maintaining the high quality of life we enjoy in Dane County,” County Executive Falk said.

Falk noted under the 2009 county budget she signed into law last week, more than $3.5 million in county tax dollars are dedicated to similar road and highway improvement projects.  That’s one of the largest capital investments the county has ever made for road projects.

Next year the County Highway B bridge over Koshkonong Creek will be replaced.  That project is scheduled to start early next summer.
