County Executive

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today announced that Lesley Sillaman, who has served as an executive assistant in her office since January 2005, will be leaving Friday, May 19, 2006 and Joanne Haas will be her replacement. Sillaman has served as a media liaison for Falk during her time in the County Executive’s office, and is returning to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to be closer to family who live in the area. Haas has built an extensive career as a media professional, serving as both a journalist and press secretary. Currently, Haas is a freelance reporter, writing government, political, feature and business stories for clients such as Wispolitics.com, Capital Newspapers, Trails Media Inc, and other publications. Previously, Haas served as a copy editor for The Journal Times in Racine, Wisconsin, as a reporter and editor for The Washington Post Company, and as a Press Secretary for U.S. Representative Peter Barca of Wisconsin. Haas has an M.A. in Education from the National College of Education in Washington, D.C. and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin. Haas will start her job at the end of May and will be paid $71,300 annually. Falk said: “Lesley did a great job. She was always accessible and helpful to the press and was a strong member of my executive team. We will miss her and wish her the best. I am also pleased to welcome Joanne Haas. Joanne is a long time, well-respected Wisconsin journalist with a sterling reputation for honesty and hard work. It’s important for people to know what their government is doing or thinking of doing and Joanne will be the key person in making sure that Dane County residents have that information.” # # #
