Life-Saving Training Offered by 26 Dane County Fire, EMS Departments Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk is reminding county residents to take advantage of free training of a life-saving skill Saturday. Dane County is teaming up with local fire and emergency medical service agencies on June 7th to offer countywide training of what’s known as CCR, or cardio cerebral resuscitation. 26 locations across the county are offering public training of the easy to learn technique as part of “CCR Saturday.” “We never know where or when medical emergencies will happen but taking this CCR training will help more people be better prepared to offer a helping hand,” Falk said. “With CCR, everyone has the opportunity to help save a life.” Falk will be attending the CCR training course offered at Madison fire station #3 at 1217 Williamson Street at 9:00 a.m. Dane County is among a handful of places in the country where responders are utilizing this cutting edge technique in the place of CPR. One of the leading advocates for making CCR the new norm in emergency medical care, Dr. Darren Bean, died in the tragic Medflight helicopter crash May 10th near La Crosse. “This awful accident cut short the life of one of the brightest young medical minds in the country. Dr. Bean believed so strongly in the science of CCR and envisioned a day when everyone would know how to do this. This Saturday’s countywide training will help make that vision reality,” Falk said. A list of the 26 training sites and times is attached. # # #
