Just like there are two sides to every story, Dane County voters will find a two-sided ballot when they go to the polls for the general election on November 7. In an effort to make sure all voters are aware, Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and Dane County Clerk Robert Ohlsen say: “Dane County voter, flip it over.” Added Falk: “The November ballot is full on both sides, so it is important voters remember to cast their decisions on the front and back.” Dane County Clerk Robert Ohlsen said the candidates will cover the front side and the various referenda questions will be on the back. “There will be up to 6 questions, depending upon the Dane County community in which you vote,” Ohlsen said, noting city of Madison voters will see 5 referenda questions depending upon which school district the voter resides. A sentence urging the voter to continue their action on the other side is found on both sides of the ballot, Ohlsen said. “Voters must remember to do both sides,” he said. “If they submit their ballot, and then realize they failed to complete the other side, they will not be issued a replacement ballot.” Polling places and other election information are posted on the Dane County Clerk’s Web page, Voters must be registered to vote. “They can register now only in the clerk’s office, or on Election Day,” Ohlsen said. Voters who register the day of the election or in the clerk’s office must be able to prove their residence and provide the number of their valid Wisconsin’s driver’s license if they have one. All polls are open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting usually takes less time earlier in the day. Applications for absentee ballots will be accepted by mail until 5 p.m. on November 2. Or, Ohlsen said, voters may vote absentee in the clerk’s office until 5 p.m. the day before the election, November 6. # # #
