Dane County Parks Go High Tech for ’08 Season

New Online System Makes it Easier to Reserve Campsites, Shelters Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk is encouraging county residents to take advantage of a new online system that makes it easier to reserve campsites or shelters. Falk made the announcement at a news conference at Lake Mendota Park Thursday, the unofficial opening of many Dane County park shelters and campsites. May 1st also marks the start of activities like disc golf and horseback and mountain bike riding in parks that offer those activities. “There’s no better way to forget this past winter than to spend a little time enjoying the outdoors in one of our many fabulous Dane County parks,” County Executive Kathleen Falk said. “Making those spring and summer park plans is extra easy and fun thanks to this new, high-tech park reservation system.” The new online camping and reservation system can be accessed from any computer 24 hours a day at: https://www.reservedane.com/ The site includes comprehensive information about Dane County’s parks and a step-by-step guide on how to use the reservation system trouble-free. “Dane County citizens are now just a couple computer clicks away from making sure their favorite campsite is ready for their weekend away or families can get the shelter they need for that big summer get-together,” Falk said. Dane County’s 29 parks offer a wide variety of year-round recreational opportunities including camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking. Several parks also offer trails for horseback riding and venues for sporting events like softball, volleyball, and disc golf.
