Motorists near Cross Plains, Pine Bluff, and Mount Horeb will have safer, more comfortable driving, thanks to a major road project just completed by Dane County. Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk announced the completion of major improvements on County Highway (CTH) S and P between Pine Bluff and Klevenville. Falk commented: “This was a big project with repaving, turn lanes and other intersection improvements. At the intersection of CTH S, P, and J, we added curb and gutter and turn lanes and lowered the speed limits. This completes our safety improvements to that intersection and makes that entire road safer and more convenient to travel.” Another major part of the project is a new bridge between Pine Bluff and Mount Horeb. That work was key to also improving a nearby intersection with passing and turning lanes. The project cost $1.27 million with the Town of Cross Plains contributing $15,000 to additional improvements in Pine Bluff. Included in this project are bike lanes. CTH S now has bike lanes along its entire stretch from Madison to Mount Horeb. The improved roadway opened October 12th. Falk noted that, despite the torrential August rains, the project finished on time and on budget. # # #
