CHANGES IN “SLOW, NO WAKE” ORDERS With receding lake levels, the three top Dane County leaders announced further relaxation of the “Slow, No Wake” orders on the Yahara Chain of Lakes. The decision by Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney, and Dane County Board Chair Scott McDonell made the following changes on Friday morning (9/14/07). · Lake Mendota returns to the normal, permanent 200 foot Slow, No Wake Zone (it had been at 500 feet Slow, No Wake). · Lake Monona now has a 500 foot Slow, No Wake Zone (it’s entire surface had been Slow, No Wake). An exception is Squaw Bay, which continues to be Slow, No Wake. · Lake Waubesa now has a 500 foot Slow, No Wake Zone (it’s entire surface had been Slow, No Wake). · Lake Kegonsa returns to the normal, permanent 200 foot, Slow, No Wake Zone (it had been at 500 feet Slow, No Wake). A Slow, No Wake Zone means a boat must move as slowly as possible while still maintaining steering control and produce no wake. All three officials thanked boaters for their compliance with previous orders and noted that they continue to monitor lake levels daily. # # #
