Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today thanked the more than 60 telecommunications professionals for their round-the-clock life-saving assistance as part of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, April 8 – 14.
“Any day of the week, any weather and at any time, these extraordinary workers are on the job demonstrating their dedication to their duty and the public,” Falk said. “These valuable public servants are the reasons why an ambulance gets to your door and why the right equipment shows up to fight the fire.”
“I am pleased to join the nation in honoring these workers whose dedication to the community is demonstrated with each call they take,” Falk said. Falk also is scheduled to present a proclamation to the 911 staff on Thursday.
The Dane County Public Safety Communications Center takes several hundred 911 and non-emergency calls daily. Law enforcement, fire and emergency medical incident responses are coordinated through the communications center in downtown Madison, linking more than 80 public safety agencies with their service areas. Dane County communicators and their counterparts in area city and state centers handle emergencies in all of Dane County.
Falk also said the county will begin accepting applications for its telecommunications staff on April 22. For more information regarding the center, visit http://www.countyofdane.com/communicationscenter/index.html.
