Madison – Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today announced the beginning of a 30-day public input period following the conclusion of seven Attain Dane community-wide listening/working sessions. Falk held the final session, spanning a six-month period, Wednesday night in Madison and will hold the public input period open until July 1, 2005. “Even if you haven’t been able to attend an Attain Dane session, it’s not too late,” said Falk. “We want as much input as possible as we begin the process of creating a map for our county.” Attain Dane is the County Executive’s land use initiative involves citizens and local governments in creating a map of Dane County that allows development to occur while protecting and preserving what citizens love about where they live. Sessions occurred from January to June, in the Towns of Sun Prairie and Christiana, the Villages of Cross Plains, Oregon, DeForest and the Cities of Verona and Madison. Falk encouraged citizens to continue to give input into the project, even if they have not been able to attend a session. Please go to our website, there you will find maps provided to the county by the 60 local units of government about what their current plans for growth are. Citizens are invited to review those maps and tell us what they agree with and what they want different, or where development should occur and what should be protected. The maps can be found at: http://www.co.dane.wi.us/exec/attain_dane_listening_sessions.htm. Citizens can give input in a variety of ways, including calling, writing or even submitting an electronic survey or using their personal digital camera to submit photos of what they like or dislike regarding growth in Dane County. Hard copies of the maps and feedback forms are available by calling the County Executive’s office at (608) 266-4114. # # #
