Dane County Controller’s Office Earns Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

The Dane County Controller’s office has earned the distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 2004 Dane County Program Budget. The Dane County budget staff, supervised by Charles Hicklin, the county’s chief financial officer, had primary responsibility for preparing the award-winning budget document. Dane is one of only five of Wisconsin’s 72 counties to earn the award. “Good budgeting allows us to get the most benefit from our taxpayers’ dollars to serve the needs of our citizens,” said Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk. “Chuck and his staff do a great job working with challenging and complicated budget issues.” According to the GFOA, “The award represents a significant achievement. It reflects a commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.” The association rates how well the county’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 14,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. # # #
