James Gregorius, who has served as Dane County zoning administrator for the past eight years, has announced his retirement, effective February 28, 2003. Gregorius oversees a staff of eight in the Zoning and Plat Review Division of the County’s Department of Planning and Development. The division is responsible for the permit review process relating to granting or denying zoning permits for new construction and major repairs and additions, rezoning, conditional use permits, filling and grading, erosion control, and other permits. He is also responsible for enforcement of the zoning ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Dane County. “Jim brought a great deal of experience to this key area of county government,” said Jeanie Sieling, Director of the Department of Planning and Development. “He has worked hard during a very challenging time of unprecedented growth in Dane County.” Gregorius was often seen at Dane County Board meetings explaining complicated zoning issues and answering detailed questions relating to zoning issues. Sieling said that Steven Reynolds, assistant zoning administrator, will serve as acting zoning administrator until a replacement is hired through the normal county hiring process. # # #
