The Southside Community Farmers’ Market will hold its 2nd annual mid-summer celebration this Saturday July 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the parking lot of the Villager Shopping Center, in the 2200 block of South Park Street. The celebration will feature fun games and prizes for kids, music, storytelling, and of course, plenty of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. There will also be diabetes screening for patrons, courtesy of Cub Foods. Corn, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, and raspberries top the list of in-season produce. “What a great way to spend part of a Saturday,” said County Executive Kathleen Falk. “Buying healthful fruits and vegetables, supporting our local farmers, and letting the kids enjoy some fun activities all at the same time.” The Southside Community Market is held every Saturday morning and Tuesday afternoon. Market hours are Saturday from 9:00am to 2:00pm, and Tuesday from 2:30pm to 6:00pm. Market coordinator Cheryl Wade is looking forward to a fun-filled celebration. “We’ll have a little something for everyone, the season’s first corn will be in and the kids will have a blast playing games like wiffle ball,” Wade said.
