County Executive

Amendment is on U.S. Senate Calendar TODAY Following is a letter that Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk today faxed to Senator Herb Kohl asking him to support an amendment on today’s US Senate Calendar, that would increase Medical Assistance funding in Dane County. A similar letter was faxed to Senator Russ Feingold. July 24, 2002 Senator Herb Kohl 330 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Senator Kohl: I’m writing to you to request your support for the Rockefeller/Nelson amendment to SR 812. It is my understanding that this amendment would provide a much-needed infusion to the Medical Assistance (MA) program. In Dane County, an increase in MA funding would help: -- The Badger Prairie Health Care Center, a nursing home run by Dane County which serves more than 110 individuals, many of whom have very complex physical and behavioral challenges. -- More than 17,000 individuals in the traditional MA and BadgerCare programs. -- More than 1,500 individuals with disabilities who receive support to stay in their homes from six different programs operated by the State of Wisconsin under Federal MA waivers. Many more individuals are waiting to receive these services. Funding of these MA related programs and services in Wisconsin continues to be an enormous challenge. Any additional MA funding that could be provided through this legislation would help to meet some very serious needs in Dane County. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Kathleen M Falk Dane County Executive cc: Senator Jay Rockefeller
