Due to the forecast for bitter wind chills and blizzard-like conditions, Dane County government will close its non-essential operations beginning December 22 at 2:00 PM through December 23. Essential public safety services will remain operational during this closure.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service beginning today (December 21) at 6:00 PM through Saturday (December 24) at 6:00 AM. Very strong winds are anticipated Thursday night through Friday night, with gusts up to 40-50 miles per hour, potentially causing damage to trees and power outages. It is based on this anticipated weather event taking place during normal work hours that Dane County will activate its Plan for Suspending County Government Operations and close non-essential operations.
