At tonight’s meeting, the Dane County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution to allocate funds to the Madison Community Foundation (MCF) to administer a program to support non-profit organizations in Dane County.

The source is the American Rescue Plan State and Local Fiscal Assistance Fund (ARP). Dane County was awarded approximately $106.2 million through ARP. Many nonprofit organizations in Dane County have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The County Board identified assistance to non-profits as a priority last year, and is now able to support this use of money given the additional resources from the federal government.

"I’m happy we’re able to provide assistance to the non-profits in Dane County that do tireless work. So many of them rely on fundraisers and events to be able to run, which was severely limited due to the pandemic," said County Board Chair Analiese Eicher.

The $5 million initiative is designed to assist non-profits that have suffered economically due to the pandemic and to sustain their operations into the future. Madison Community Foundation has extensive contacts and experience assisting non-profits in Dane County.

"These nonprofits play a critical role in getting help to the people in our community where it's most needed," Supervisor and Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee Patrick Miles said. "We're getting this funding out to enable these organizations to recover from the pandemic and successfully continue their service to our community."
